2 shows in 1 Day - CHEATERAMA & Bombers Bombs Away Bash

Handsome Johnny (in the white) poses with his friends and his ride. He is a member of the Cheaters and is a pretty cool kat. But then, ALL the Cheaters are a good bunch of guys.
The Cheaters Car Club are one of those car clubs that you want to hang out with. The guys in the club all drive truly traditional hot rods and each one seem
to have their own area of expertise. But all are dedicated to keeping the hot rod traditions alive in the Milwaukee area. I am lucky enough to go to shows all
over the world and it seems I will see members of this car club at locations from east coast to west coast. This is because they plan their vacations around
car events. Even in their down time – they are wanting to check out the hot rods in other places. One of the Cheaters is going to fly to Japan this year for
the Mooneyes Yokohama show because he is so into it. I hope I can attend with him. That is an amazing show fer sure.
The Cheaters take a different approach
to the car show thing. Every August they pack the Nite Owl with as many cars as they possibly can. There is barely enough room to walk between the cars....as a
result you have to "get to know" your fellow hot rod enthusiast that is coming at ya from the opposite end of the car. If you are one of those guys that are freaked
about getting door dings - you may wanna grab a spot on the road cause they pack em in at the Cheaterama. It was a great year this year and I did not get to stick around
for the entire shindig because I wanted to hit the Bombers Bombs Away Bash down in Peoria IL. SO about 330 pm I jumped my car over a curb and sidewalk and somehow
got out of the close quarters that are CHEATERAMA.
The ride to Peoria was going well when about 1/4 down the road there was a car on fire. Well….this slowed me down for about 45 minutes. The delay resulted in late
arrival to the Bombers show. They start at 4pm and I thought I could make it there by 730 or 800. Instead I did not show up til almost 9pm. By then it was dark
and cars had started to take off. I was still able to talk to other hot rodders that had been there all day, and I did see 1 other crazy cat that went to the
Cheaters show in Milwaukee and was at the Bombers show as well.
It was a crazy day, starting out at 430 am and ending at about 1am, hitting 2 car shows that are 4 hours apart is not for everyone, but it was a blast for me.
